Iberian Sobrasada
Sobrasada ibérica is a typical sausage from the Balearic Islands and some areas of Catalonia and the Valencian Community. It is made from finely minced Iberian pork mixed with paprika, salt and other spices, which gives it its characteristic flavour and aroma.
Sobrasada comes in the form of a spreadable, deep red paste, which is usually spread on toasted bread or used as an ingredient in various Balearic dishes, such as coca de trampó (trampó pastry) or pizza sobrasada (sobrasada pizza).
Iberian sobrasada is highly valued for its intense flavour and creamy texture, and is considered a delicacy in many parts of the world. Moreover, as it is made from the meat of the Iberian pig, which feeds on acorns and other natural resources of the dehesa, it is considered a high-quality product and is considered to have beneficial properties for health, if consumed in moderation.
