Uramakis of Jamón Ibérico and avocado
Iberian ham and avocado uramaki rolls are a perfect choice to surprise your family and friends with an original and simple recipe that combines Japanese and Spanish cuisine.
INGREDIENTS
FOR 2 PEOPLE
TOTAL TIME: 45 minutes
- 2 cups of sushi rice
- 2 cups of water
- 1 cup of rice vinegar
- 4 slices of Iberian ham from Enrique Tomás
- Avocado
PREPARATION
1. Prepare all the ingredients: sushi rice, thinly sliced Iberian ham, half an avocado, and rice vinegar.
First, spend some time on the rice as it's one of the most important elements of the dish. Remember that the rice should be special for making sushi.
The key to success is washing the rice until the water runs clear. Once that's done, put the rice in a pot with water and heat it carefully to prevent it from sticking to the bottom. Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15 minutes with the lid on.
2. After this time has passed, remove the rice from the pot and add eight tablespoons of rice vinegar, then let it rest for 5 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, place the thin slices of Iberian ham on the bamboo mat, the essential tool for making sushi.
4. Once the rice is ready, spread it evenly over the ham, creating something similar to the photograph.
7. Once rolled up, remove it from the mat and you will be left with a whole uramaki cylinder. Cut it into small pieces of the same thickness and you can enjoy every bite. To give it a final touch, we recommend serving it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a little wasabi.
Enjoy it!
